Basically, in this AU 401 got a bit stir crazy in the mental hospital and escaped. She was very aimless for a while, running from anyone who might recognize her. Eventually she overhears of a performance, classic 20s-ish circus style. She remembers how she loved those, and decided that she wants to live like that for the rest of her life: loved and entertained. She searches for methods to make this dream come true, and hears of a genie-like being, so she seems him out. After a very difficult trial, she finds him and gets one wish: to be have a realm of her own where she has complete power over it, so she can host fantastical shows. The genie grants it, at one cost: she can never leave the realm itself.
So, she disguises herself as human and begins a life of extravagant performances, gaining widespread fame and recognition.
Personality
She is chaotic-neutral in this AU, never outright hunting people, but she is still sadistic, so just don't piss her off. She prefers to just perform her shows. She doesn't care about any conflict outside of her theater, as long as it doesn't interfere too much with her show or audience numbers. She is very manic and unpredictable, with a wild energy. 401 loves musical numbers. They are diegetic; the characters are aware and actively in the musical numbers, hearing background music and everything. She quite enjoys media (such as recording of old 20s dances) on her phone (which she obviously conjured herself).
She is no longer interested in romance.
Magic
She has complete control over everything in her realm, meaning that if you died in it, she could bring you back. But this would only apply in her realm, and she's not very keen on having long-term guests, at least not ones she can't have fun with (torture for amusement). Her realm is another dimension, but she casts a bit of a "portal" inside the theater which she hosts her shows. She can move the portal to whatever location she desires, but cannot leave the portal. She cannot make people enter the portal, and she can close it so that they can't leave. But as stated before, she's not likely to do that. Her realm itself cannot be (permanently or majorly) affected by something other than herself, but if she dies, the realm does too. She is essentially immortal now. 401 has a magician's wand, but it is purely for show. Her disguise physically changes her body, but her 'default' form is still her octoling one.
