Any type of Millennial is supposed to be five years before or after the turn of a millennium.
So for the ones most refer to these days, it SHOULD BE 1995-2005.
The 80s were nowhere near a millennium.

It's just enough to be in your formative years only.
All these modern-day dinosaurs claiming they were near 2000, are laughable.

It's like, those people were in their 20s and already adults by the time 2000 came around.
They're just dummies pushing 50 that want to remain relevant in a world where they don't matter anymore. Just anti-logic they use when making the 80 claim.

Exactly. That's what makes the entire term even more ridiculous.
I think that's why they changed it a long time ago, to make older people feel special.

Besides, lots of people are born in 10 year time periods. Plenty for an entire generation.
After all, do we really even need to emphasize generations, anyway?
We're all just people and the same stuff is out there for us to discover.

I'm considered "old" because I'm not into most stuff from the last 30 years.
Yet, I was born within the timeframe within either definition.

Just a pet peeve of mine, mostly.

I think this is the part where I just relent and say "Semantics" before closing the subject.

i js gotta ask, if millenials 1995-2005, and Gen A is 2012-2025, then is Gen Z 7yrs long?

Personally, I think the entire generational timelines are askew.
I don't know how they get the numbers they do, because none of them are mathematically correct.
I made this meme years ago, before I had an imgflip.
But tbh, I don't really give it much thought due to the overall irrelevancy of the concept.

However, to answer your question, my own personal theory is that it can be any number of years as whoever's determining this stuff can change it whenever they feel like it.
None of it really makes any sense.
