How homophobes feel around me

I'm not fully out at school (most teachers know and use my name and pronouns, but the majority of students don't know), and today some of the boys were being pretty wild, so a girl said "Sperrt die Männer weg!" (German for "Lock up the men!") as a joke. My male and female best friends and I agreed, and the boys told us that this is stupid and we would have to lock ourselves up, not understanding that it's a joke that targeted their very "alpha male" behavior and not a gender. I really had to stop myself from explaining that it doesn't even apply to me, a trans girl.

Geez, I hate people like that. I had a good deal of them while I was in school. I started keeping a note card with me explaining my gender and sexuality because I got so tired of repeatedly explaining it. I’m sorry that happened. Are you doing ok?
