quick tip: zram (basically a compressed RAM cache so you can store more on memory),
it's not magic but it helped a lot on my machine.

yeah, all i've really done is install the os and get firmware and stuff. also switched it to the testing version. wifi was a bit annoying to set up but it's working now

then zswap should be a better fit for you (it directly complements swap by compressing standard memory BEFORE writing it to the abhorrently slow swap)
