A Tale of Light Rebooted
Prologue: A Traumatizing Memory
A long time ago, two gods existed in perfect harmony. Light and Darkness. Good and Evil. Yin and Yang. Until the day that the darkness wanted more, that is. Without the Light, nothing could stop the darkness from enveloping everything in sight. This was the darkest time in the history of our reality. But the Light was hiding, waiting for the perfect time to strike. After all, Dark cannot exist without Light. Evil cannot exist without Good. Yang cannot exist without Yin.
PRESENT DAY
“The sky was dark the night they attacked our town, almost pitch black. I remember my father running out of the door, a sword in hand. I never saw him again after that. My mother told me to hide in the basement, and that she would join me soon. I followed her orders and ran to the door. The last thing I remember hearing was her scream as they brutally massacred her. I was never the same after that.”
The therapist then quietly said, “Would you say that this is the source of your trauma?”
The man replied, “Who knows?"
“Look Jerry, I understand that the military forces you to come here, but we can’t get to the root of the problem if you keep deflecting my questions.”
“I know, sir.”
The therapist repeated the question louder this time, “Would you say that this is the source of your trauma?”
Jerry slowly replied with a nod.
“Ah, looks like our times up. I will be seeing you next week then.”
Jerry got up from the hard, wooden chair he had been sitting on. He walked out of the room and into the cold and desolate hallway. The door slammed behind him, the noise echoing through the halls.
He sighed deeply.
“I need a drink.”
