I am in support of using AI Art to share ideas with your friends or meme community.

I am not in support of people selling advertisement/whatever other services using AI Art though. People that are selling what the AI art made are horrible.

No. AI art generators require input. Like this one, it was the third rendition because it did the wrong format the first time, I asked to change it to look like an older newspaper, then it did it wrong again & I pointed out that it doubled some of the words. It took me providing it the entire idea behind this image & produced what my ideas asked it to.

All you did was tell it what to make and it regurgitated soulless slop.

All you did with a meme template is tell it where to put the words and it gave you back soulless slop in a given format.

I do have a problem with people selling advertising or something - using an AI Generator for what they are selling. That I have a problem with. But nobody making memes for ImgFlip is doing it for money - it's all for the shared experience.

So doxxing folks on ImgFlip while using a meme template... Well, that's no better than using an AI to get a source picture for a meme

Using a meme template (which takes no skill or creativity other than your ideas) is no different than using an AI Art generator (which takes no skill or creativity other than your ideas)

Using AI is just writing a couple of words down and claiming that you are being creative, while the AI is stealing jobs of actual creative people. Using a meme template is putting in more effort and actually doing a bit of work to make something that is actually funny and creative. They are two incredibly different things. You are using a meme template to complain about meme templates, but the OP isn't using AI to complain about AI.

How is using a meme template & providing it words to get a meme... Any different from providing an AI art generator words to get an image...other than you know which image you're making a meme for with a template.

The loss of originality is one of the most minor problems people have with ai. *My* problem with ai is taking jobs because companies would rather use a robot instead of paying workers, scraping from artists who do art as their job, consuming loads of electricity and water (one chatgpt query = ~10 google searches), ai centers causing housing crises, ai companies being bribed by israel to feed their ai models zionist propaganda, among many more issues.

sure, using a silly meme jpeg someone uploaded 5 years ago might be as uncreative as prompting gemini to generate a puppy riding a motorcycle, but one was made by a human, and that’s a large difference.

I'm not offended by that - I'm saying it's the same thing as using a meme template. It's JUST as lazy and uncreative to use a Meme Template as it is to get AI to make you a picture of whatever

With a meme template you have to think of something funny whereas ai can do it for you. I bet you didn’t even think of that response.

And AI will only make something as funny as you can be creative with your desired input
