I don't think it's about changing ourselves, at least I don't feel like that. It's about having our bodies reflect who we truly are. It's dysphoria (NOT body dysmorphia, which is a totally different thing. When you start being euphoric in your gender, which is basically the opposite of dysphoric, you don't have the feeling that you need to change. When you have body dysmorphia, you perceive your body differently from how it actually is, which is why some people with body dysmorphia still think they're too fat even though they are underweight. Body dysmorphia is actually a mental disorder, gender dysphoria is NOT.) and euphoria. I also don't think it's about changing herself for your girlfriend, even though I certainly don't know her, so I can't judge that.
It's not about hating ourselves or not loving ourselves. Saying so can really invalidate trans people's experiences.
I'm also not a big advocate for treating everything with drugs, but HRT is an entirely different thing here.
The aspects of infertility and erectile dysfunction are correct, but there are ways. First, most transfems don't care about erectile dysfunction. Second, sperm banking is usually an option, which makes the infertility bit almost irrelevant.
About depression: most people feel way better with gender affirming care, leading to depression rates actually DECREASING.
Also, male and female bodies are more similar than one might think, and we have countless examples of HRT actually enriching people's lives.
I appreciate your thoughts, though I don't agree at all. I just wanted to point all those things out, but I DON'T want to start a debate, since debates exhaust me and I always force myself to reply, which makes it even worse. So please don't start a debate. I just wanted to correct some things and point things out.
Have a nice day!
