About the Latin:
I think it depends on country, school system and school. I live in Germany (Bavaria) and my school is a grammar school (I think that's the right term). The German school system is divided in three schools between elementary school and university, and you choose your school type after elementary school. At the "Hauptschule" or "Mittelschule", you usually learn till grade 9 or 10 and it's more practice-oriented. At "Realschule", it's usually till grade 10 and it's more mixed with practical and theoretical stuff. At "Gymnasium" (grammar school. The word is totally different in English), you learn till grade 10 or 12/13. Grade 13 includes the "Abitur", a degree that helps you get to study at a university. Not all grammar schools offer Latin, but a lot do (and they're usually the only school type to offer it). I started with English. Then we had the choice between French and Latin, I picked Latin. In grade 7, we had the choice between science and language. Science is no Italian but Chemistry one year earlier, language is Italian but Chemistry one year later. I picked language. Some grammar schools offer old Greek and Latin or a totally different mix but mine offers Latin.
I wrote a whole lot that's actually unnecessary, but I felt like explaining the entire school system lmao.
