Homestly just make an hourglass but if you want a different shape start the torso going down to the hips as a narrow triangle or you could warp the hourglass however you want

Bean torso method my beloved.
But from my experience, your method is great for less organic characters

A gross over simplification. But you start the torso by drawing a bean and add details from there. I can find the video I learnt it from if tou wish?

For full bodies draw 2 centrr lines instead of 1 and both are curved. Make sure to mirror them against each other. Where they meet is the bottom of the pelvis.

The torso is (usally) a been shape. Once your happy with the general shape/angle add in the rib cage and other anchor points (e.g. hips, shoulders ect).

Build up the basic shapes before committing to detail.

That's how I usally do it

Step 1: the two mirrored curved center lines

Step 2: bean torso, in this step you can also plan out the pose

Step 3: add in the ribcage, hips, shoulders, and any other bones to lock in the pose

Step 4: FLESH

Step 5: remove all the guide lines from previous steps and your left with the body

Step 6-7: add the clothes and any other exessories
