The moment no one's been waiting for. Prolly nobody's going to read it, but ion care, I'll just plug it again in the morning.

So I met a guy, and to keep his identity secret, I'll call him by the name of 47.
So I met 47 in the end freshmen year in a play. We had been...acquainted, to overstate it, but we met again in junior year, where we both had a class together. In this class, there was also someone I became friends with, and we'll call him Mark 1. (he'll be important later on in the story) Now, eventually, I had grown an attraction for Mark 1, but he turned me down. Luckily though, we remained great friends, and we've grown past that incident. After that though, I was kind of heartbroken, and lonely. Then, one day, we were doing a theatre warm up, and I managed to make everyone laugh incredibly hard. A couple days later, as I was heading to my class, 47 approached me, and said "dude, [that thing] was hilarious, like I think about it EVERY day." He then kept on walking, like he hadn't just given me the best compliment I'd ever received. It was almost immediately at that moment that I realized I really really liked him.
Later, I had a creative writing project, that involved writing a letter to someone. Most people just chose to write to companies because they wanted free stuff, but I chose to write to 47, which would involve asking for his address. So the next day, I asked him for it, he gave it, I explained what it was for, and he said all shy "Oh, why'd you choose me?"
(Like, full on "🥺👉👈") and I said "Well I guess you'll have to find out when the mail comes."
When he finally got it, he came to me and said that that was the nicest thing he'd ever gotten, and had put it on his corkboard. (which is ironically the same thing I do whenever someone writes me a compliment)

Flash forward a couple of weeks, and now we're both in a musical called "suffs," and are the only 15 (I think) schools in the whole country that get to put it on, so this is a BIG deal.
Anyways, during this, I asked 47 for his number, and he reluctantly told me it. [side track that will be important as context later: Prior, he had told me about a song that he'd heard that reminded him of me, (yes chat, he was THINKING about ME on his free time, and for reference, he has a friend that he spends almost all his time with, so this is all a crazy compliment) so I listened to it, and it did not disappoint. Although, what really had my heart racing, were the lyrics about how the singer's souls was "longing for [you]." I told him about that, and he went like beet red. He was saying things like "I'm so sorry," and "I didn't know that was there, but he never said "I didn't mean it." The blushing part will be VERY important later]
Later, I started texting him, he and I started talking, yapping, eventually he got comfortable enough to start acting cute and stuff around me, talking about his special interests, his hobbies, his life, and so on and so forth. We were really hoping to be in the same lunch together next semester, and be able to play DND with each other. I gave him a couple other gifts, and he seemed to be in love with all of them. I really felt like I genuinely had a shot with this guy, and everything felt great.

The date is Jan 07, 2026. Time is around 19:57. (7:57pm)

(beforehand) After I made cupcakes for my project, and topped them with jolly ranchers I had melted into ring shapes, I had one left. It was green, and I had decided "to heck with it, I'll just give it to 47." I texted him a photo of the ring, to whom he never responded. I thought that that was okay. People rarely text me back quickly. After I did tho, the green one had gone missing.
(present) I decided to just take a ring and give it to him instead. This one was red, and I said "I lost the green one, so I'll get you a red one instead." I started typing "just like your face when you get embarrassed." I had a great level of hesitation before finally hitting send. He then responded at ~8:15 saying exactly "that made me a little uncomfortable 😓" I had to wait until tomorrow because my parents don't let me text past 8, so the next morning, I texted him two apologies, one for what I said, and the other for me being late.
He said nothing for two days.
On Friday, I decided to just give him the ring, considering I had promised it. I said "Oh, hey, 47, here's the ring I promised you." to which he said "Oh, uh, thanks..."

But he looked at me.

He looked at me like he didn't even know who I was.

And it destroyed me.
I didn't talk or eat for that day and the next, convinced that I was a monster that hurt others when it talked. I had many genuine considerations of ending it all right there.

After a while, I talked with Mark 1, and he was trying to get me to calm down. It was at these moments I realized two things:
A. I came across as flirting. (I was lowk just trying to play around, and thought he had just gotten insecure)
B. It's not my fault.
You see, Mark 1 had also been good buddies with 47, (minus the desired romance) but had been kind of ghosted by him, and he never felt comfortable around Mark 1 anymore.
Now I'm mad.
Because he's not being "shy around people," or a "lone wolf" because he's completely fine being his other friends f**king lapdog and licking their boots or following them wherever they go. He f**king ditched me. He left me in the f**king dirt to internally die a horrible, shitty ass death.
But I'd never say that to them, because it would destroy me all over again to see them cry.
I want to confront them about it, but I don't know how. They won't listen to my texts, sending a letter feels creepy, and I can't guarantee that I'll be in the same class as them.

What do I do?
