It used to be that there were 3 separate branches of government in the U.S., so that no one branch could control everything. Now the GOP owns (literally bought & paid) the majority of the Supreme Court, fired anyone in the DOJ that was independent & fair, replaced them with his lackeys. Any Republicans in Congress who oppose were brought down to Mar A Lago & threatened, & if they didn't give in, he funded opponents who would do his calling.
So, the chances of anything which implicated Trump ( & I'm sure there's plenty) has very little chance of being released -- if it hasn't been destroyed already.
Here's a related issue. Back in 2014, I think, there was a bi-partisan Congressional investigation into Trump's casinos. They found how the casinos were THE place for Russian oligarchs to launder their money. They showed how Trump used the bankruptcies to transfer his debt to the projects, cheating everyone from investers to contractors to suppliers to employees of the money they were owed. When Trump was running in 2015, I read through parts of the reports on the Library of Congress web site. When he ran again in 2019, I looked for the report again. Guess what? It was no longer on the LOC site.
