I believe the original "St Nick" was, indeed, an ally of Jesus. His story is quite interesting.

Yeah, me too. As a kid when on italian shops i used to see St.Nick puppets, i Always thought he was a sort of "Santa Pope", but years after i discovered that the original Santa was like this
