not tryna start a debate just really curious about this

not tryna start a debate just really curious about this | ok idk much about religion so I might be a bit off about this but for for thought; god created earth right? that includes the Americas and Australia as far as I know. so why is there not a single mention of them? like you'd think God would at least tell Moses "oh yeah mention that there's these big parts nobody has found yet" and also in that case why didn't anyone in the Americas have anything like Christianity? Did God really just not give a single shit about them??? | image tagged in hecate | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

God mostly focused on the Israelites and who they could reach
America was on a whole different continent so they didn’t interact much

But god wanted them to spread the gospel right? To get them to all believe in the true religion? Some versions of the Bible believe that people who don’t believe in him just go to a (less bad part of) hell

Did he just decide “nah those Americans can do whatever they’ll get indoctrinated into it by violent colonizers in a couple thousand years anyways, in the meantime all the ones who live before Christianity arrives can just… rot in hell for not believing what I’m not gonna teach them I guess”

At the very least any denomination that believes non-Christian’s go to hell should be proved wrong by this bc that would be a shitty thing for god to do

That’s kinda why it’s so important to believe that God had to decide who would be saved, because everyone deserves to go to hell. He showed mercy by saving some, not cruelty by leaving some
Even Paul traveled to even just nearby cities to spread the gospel, who never heard of it before. America is the same story

But how can you be powerful enough to create that whole universe and only have the power to tell one guy how to not suffer eternal damnation? Like it kinda does just sound like the excuse made as to why more people didn’t hear about this

And if he could only choose a select few to communicate to why not someone of power like the pharaoh of Egypt or Emperor of China instead of a (would-be) slave or a poor man?

God had people spread his name even before Jesus... when it was God in the Old Testament
And God chooses people of all backgrounds to do his will, and they always do it. Thanks to the 12 apostles, the whole world knows Jesus now
God is completely Sovereign, so if he wants anything done, you’d better bet it gets done

Nah I’m pretty sure this was a Book of Mormon thing bc Zion national park is called that bc it’s a place Mormons found and were like “wow this is so awesome this is like a holy site or smth

This is true. Mormons are probably the most hated Christianity branch. But we do share many beliefs

Probably because the LDS is incredibly toxic

Idk what experiences you’ve had, but most are actually amazing people. BYU is one of the most charitable colleges in the USA, and the LDS sponsors dozens of charities globally

I meant it's toxic in ways that other cults like Moonies are

Ah. Well, there’s a lot of differences in our church. If you go to a Mormon church, you’ll definitely see we really don’t deserve being called cultists so much lmao

I have never had a bad experience with their people specifically

Completely wrong about this lol mb. Apparently the promised land was Israel. Maybe it was the Bible or the Book of Mormon idk
