Then again it was the democrat party that was the confederate states of America in actual history. And the kkk was a liberal cult.

There was a switch. For the most part, the Dixiecrats are Republicans since the Civil Rights Act. And the KKK have obviously always been far right.

I always contend that there was a switch only in membership, not parties, is the Democratic Party committed chose to progress while the Republican Party chose to stay behind.

Also his contention above is deliberately erroneous as there were more Democrats in the North in the 1860s than there were in the South. If the Confederacy was a Democratic Party entity, it would have included the North.

No, the Confederate States were slave owning states in the South. In fact, not only were there Democrats in the northern states, there were actually more in the North than there was in the South.

Democrats in name only, but the north just had a much larger population, so more voters. Republicans were still the dominant party in the north.

They were not Democrats in name only, they were the biggest and oldest established party in the United States. Republicans were still a brand new party. They won an election, that doesn't mean that everyone was a Republican in the North.

Compared to those parties since the 1960s, they are both DINOs and RINOs. There really was a long and complex switch.

There was no such thing as a DINO and a RINO till about a decade or so ago.

Other than being an abolitionist party, Republicans were always for a more centralized government and pro-business. Despite claiming that they're against big government, they never have been.

Democrats have always been for more power for the states and less for the federal government, which is why today they seemed quite rudderless, because they've always been diffuse.
