I made this poster because there have been instances in which teenagers sent to these boot camps have died. The goal of these boot camps is to straighten out kids who are really out of control. I've seen episodes of Maury where parents had kids who were so bad they can only be described as evil, and Maury sent them to prison or boot camp. One of them proudly said "My mom has cancer and I told her I hope she dies." Another happily said "I tried to poison you, Mom, by putting bleach in your food."
Studies have found these "troubled teen boot camps" don't make kids behave better. I wonder if some of the drill sergeants at these boot camps are aware of these studies, and they decide "If I can't reform these kids, I'll do the world a favor by working them to death instead." I mean, which story would you rather see on the local news: "13-year-old boy dies of heat stroke at Mount Misery Boot Camp" or "13-year-old boy dies crashing a stolen car into a gasoline tanker, killing 16 others in a horrific explosion"?
Also, if a kid's home life is miserable enough and the kid feels incapable of making things.better, that kid might look forward to getting sent to boot camp. So those kids need to know that getting sent to these boot camps could kill them.
