That's because the Dixiecrats decided that "State's Rights" are more important than Human Rights. How else could they make money in a slave based economy? There needs to be slaves for that to be possible. Hence why I have to tell people, we don't live in a "Democracy," we live in a Republican Meritocracy for a reason. The soft bigotry of low expectations affects all of us.
