You're right, I was aiming (mostly) at one side, which is because most of the stuff comes from right-wing/conservative politicians. Also, I was not saying that finding a cause wasn't a good thing. The problem is much more that
1) those causes aren't real. They are presented in order to distract from real problems (at least I assume) and are extremely harmful since they stigmatize autistic people. Stigmatization is one of the greatest problems that cause problems for autistic people, at least it causes most of my problems, and
2) they aren't looking for a solution. In my opinion, we need to work on inclusion to make life better for autistic beings.
Don't get me wrong, finding a cause isn't a bad thing, but it's mostly just harmful since the "cause" isn't supported by any evidence.
Also, I would suggest to find solutions to the problems that make life harder for autistic people (even though not all problems can be solved this way) instead of avoiding having autistic children. For me, being autistic is a great experience, even though I have a lot of problems because of it. Life does suck sometimes, but I would rather stay autistic than be born as a neurotypical person.
But in the aspect of me aiming specifically at one group, I fully agree with you. Of course, people with different political views can be like this, but it's mostly conservative/right-wing governments.
