Well Christian's did base the Virgin Mary off of multiple Greek Deities and local tribal gods in the Levant as well as basing her off of a real woman, said to have been Yeshua's mother.
Hera is the mother of the gods, the keeper of oaths, family and childbirth. The character of Mary is based on Hera. Albeit loosely.
