Democrat Senator Dick Durbin exposed Schumer’s shutdown plan during remarks on the Senate floor on Monday.

In a stunning admission, Durbin, the Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said the Democrats’ shutdown strategy was to starve children.

“But I cannot accept a strategy which wages political battle at the expense of my neighbor’s paycheck or the food for his children.”

Ugh yeah no, I don't need to READ propaganda to know healthcare is UNAFFORDABLE because of all the unhealthy people out there who should eat frriggin salad and stop smoking so it wouldn't be expensive......................and its ALSO expensive because of malpractice......if those same people would STOP suing doctors, it wouldn't be expensive....that's common sense! Yeah try and fail.....politics needs to stay out of healthcare costs, they just make it worse....provide medicare/medicaid for those who need it and that's it, don;t tell me I legally MUST have health insurance (and then provide something that is going to artificial inflate in cost until subsidized then blame the opposing side for the inflation when it's your stupid creation that has no regulation to it), healthcare is a choice we're supposed to have the freedom to do not have it jammed down our throat.........and forgive me for posting in stupid AF Real Politics, sometimes you run out of posts in that other stream when you only get 2 ;-)

The Affordable Care Act doesn't force healthcare with mandates and penalties anymore, at least at the federal level. I agree that it should be voluntary. But during the shutdown, the Democrats were trying to prevent price increases to insurance premiums. Trump and Republicans are interested in tax cuts for the super-rich. And one more thing about this stream: it has moderators who cite random MAGA people's posts on X as proof/sources.

Are you even 100% positive that what the Republicans want won't raise premiums, and it's the fault of the ACA itself? This meme might be an overgeneralization; that because of the flaw of wanting the ACA to be mandatory, it should be abolished completely (because it's known as Obamacare). Republicans wanting to destroy the ACA and make cuts to Medicaid will leave millions with less access to healthcare and may even raise costs.
