24 years after being attacked by crazed Islamists, NYC surrenders to them.

Damn those crazed Islamists who want FREE CHILDCARE, and FREE BUSES.
Don't those crazy NYC libs know that FREE CHILDCARE kills more people every year than cancer?

Nothing is free, it just shifts who pays for it.

Yep, shifts the burden to people can afford to pay... there is no reason to 'protect' billionaires from paying more. The capitalist class leeches off the labour of people like me, you, and billions of others around the world. They have no right to do so.

No, shifts it to the economy and who really pay taxes, the middle class. Thus causing many of them to drop out, because they can no longer afford their lifestyle. Then those that can move away. It's been witnessed over and over.

Raising taxes on the billionaire class actually raises taxes on the middle class?! Someone needs to go back to school.
You also forget that there is no 'middle class'; there is the working class, and there is the owning class.

No. You misunderstand. After they raise taxes in the rich and they leave they'll still need tax revenue and then they'll raise taxes on the middle class.

No. YOU misunderstand. Taxes have been raised on the rich throughout history, to as high as 94% at times. Living conditions for working people are hugely increased, and the wealthy never leave, at least not in large numbers... where would they go? A tax haven?
Sure, but their money is tied up in physical capital assets.
Taxing the rich does work, we have just had capitalist propaganda drilled into our psyche over generations, convincing us that it doesn't.

And besides, what do you think we should do in order to address the wealth inequality and collapse of government power in the West?
Who do you want to prosper more, the 90%, or the wealthy owner class of the 10%?

A war is coming; we must pick a side, and it would be foolish to support a class that do not have our interests in mind.

Actually they leave all the time because their assets aren't tied up as much like they were in history. In fact this may be a good thing as the price of buildings in NY will drop as they try to sell them off to move to Texas.

Give me your evidence for this supposed mass exodus of millionaires and billionaires who fear paying.

Look, you've got to understand what I'm trying to do here. I'm not trying to humiliate you, or win some kind of culture war debate, I'm simply trying to inform you of the fact that we have been continually lied to for decades about this.

Recent State-Level Migration (2020–2023): According to a Heritage Foundation analysis of U.S. Census and IRS data, high-tax states (defined as those with above-median income and corporate tax burdens) lost a net 2.8 million residents to lower-tax states during the pandemic-era mobility surge—a trend that began accelerating with tax hikes in the 2010s. California (top marginal rate ~13.3%) and New York (~10.9%) alone shed 1.2 million and 880,000 net residents, respectively. For households earning $200,000+, the out-migration ratio was stark: 60 leaving high-tax states for every 40 arriving, compared to the inverse in low-tax destinations. This correlates strongly with income tax differentials; pairs of states with 10+ percentage point gaps in ordinary income or capital gains taxes saw ~70% of moves toward the lower-tax option.

lokiare... I'm not taking any (mis)information from the Heritage Foundation as evidence to support your claim of wealth exodus.
The Heritage Foundation is funded by, among others, people such as Charles Koch, a member of a wealthy dynasty that would benefit immensely from misinformation being spread about taxes on the rich.

Do you have any sources to counter it?

I'm happy to find sources to counter it, but I remind you that the burden of proof is on you. You're the one who claimed that billionaires will flee NYC.

I provided a source. You must counter with a source, or disprove mine, and no naming people that fund it doesn't disprove anything. You need to point out specific things about it that is incorrect like methodology.

I'm glad I changed your mind.

And so when you say "who really pays taxes, the middle class", you admit that the capitalist class doesn't pay taxes?

No, they pay people to avoid taxes. When they do pay, its a small percentage compared to the middle class that takes the brunt. When the middle class move out along with the rich, you're in deep trouble.

"When the middle class moves out along with the rich..."

What kind of delusion are you living in? Do you think that tax raises on the rich automatically have a negative affect on the working class?
Trickle-down economics has been dealt a harsh reality-check over and over, yet people still seem to believe in it.

Besides, if the rich leave as soon as we tax them, that means they hate us all and they hate our countries. Those who place ultimate value on their material wealth, and avoid supporting their country, are traitors to our nations and people.

Eventually, they will pay a high price for their treason - they will lose what they value most, their wealth. They will lose far more of it than they would have if we'd taxed them successfully... exorbitant wealth gives you tunnel-vision and a lack of long-term thinking.

The system is built on a lie, and like all lies, it will be revealed in the end.
