They have seen how effective the allegation has been on ruining the actual pedos within their movement. The knee jerk reaction is to simply use the exact same allegation against their political opponents. Real evidence doesn't matter, only the allegation.

I'm not so sure that entirely explains the continued support for drag queen storytime from the left even after registered child sex offenders have repeatedly been caught reading to children while attending, but it certainly is an optimistic view on the matter.
