Seems pretty good so far, and I like the Shining connection.

I NEVER OVERCAME MY GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE SPIDER. STEPHEN KING FILMS ALWAYS SEEM TO END IN STUPID WAYS. | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

He wrote the alien like a giant, pregnant spider, which was supposed to be the closest approximation the human mind can comprehend without going insane. But King has always been a "pantser," where he starts with characters, then makes up the plot as he goes. The Stand is a good example of the plot falling apart late.

Full Moon | DOES "PANTSER" MEAN FLYING BY THE SEAT OF HIS PANTS? OR "MOONING" YOUR READERS? | image tagged in full moon | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
I just never understood why he became so well read.

I grew up in Maine, and I've actually run into him at a movie theater once. My favorite movies from his books are The Shawshank Redemption, Misery, and Stand By Me. Though I'm more of a fan of Clive Barker's writing.

Oh, now we're talkin. I love Stand by Me & enjoyed Shawshank. Misery was DAARRRKKK! Now I have more appreciation of him. And, honestly I didn't want to admit it, but I liked The Last Stand. 😀 I have never read any Clive Barker. What genre and which books were your favorite?

You said on my Literary-Wardrobe stream that you did try a little of his Books of Blood. I like both his horror and fantasy; top 3 would probably be The Thief of Always (for children), Weaveworld, and Cabal. There's also quite a few fans of his epic fantasies the Abarat series (young adult) and Imajica.

That's funny. I thought his name sounded familiar but hadn't read anything. Yes, I did purchase a kindle book of his, the Books of Blood. I haven't read it yet. Oops. Thanks for reminding me. It had a great opening. NIW I remember making that meme about it.

One more that I love is The Green Mile. Same director as Shawshank, Frank Darabont. I just found out that he directed 2 episodes of the upcoming final season of Stranger Things.

How well did the movie "The Green Mile" hold up against the book?

I didn't read it but I heard it follows it closely.

It is an incredible movie. Many of those scenes still play clearly in my mind if I let them...and I really don't want to let them.

Yeah, that frying of Eduard Delacroix was absolutely brutal. He didn't deserve that, lol.
