Trump's ballroom is being privately funded -allegedly placing it outside of Congression- al oversight. If it's outside of Congressional oversight, that means the destruction of the East Wing isn't an official act being carried out in line of the duties of the Office of the Presidency. If it's not in line of the duties of the Office of the Presidency, that makes the demolition of the East Wing an act of destruc- tion of a National Treasure by private citizen Trump, an act no different than some rando tearing it down on the promise of "I'ma build a ballroom, swearsies" -and that makes Trump criminally liable, POTUS or no.
