The Chinese are kinda the guys who invented everything foreigners wanted. Gunpowder, tea, compass. In fact, for a while, China refused to trade with European and their reasoning was the Europeans did not have anything that the Chinese didn't already have, while the Europeans could only want.
After that, the Spanish actually found silver in the Central and South America. They extracted ALL of it. America is now dry. And so, the Chinese actually wanted silver, so they traded with Europeans.
