Slight correction: "In God we trust" wasn't a thing in 1776.
It appeared on coins in 1864.
It became the national motto only in 1956.
Before that, it was "E pluribus, unum" ("Out of many, one").
The US was founded as a secular state, remember? 1st Amendment and all that. Freedom of religion or none.
Also, Trump isn't God. That's kind of blasphemous to some folks.
Also, please define "God".
It's kind of a hugely complex concept to define with such a small word.
