If you’re thinking about getting into PC gaming, the Steam Deck is a brilliant starter. The 256GB LCD is the model I have. I got it for $500 back in 2023 and it’s been a life changer. Now it’s $320!

If you told me back in 2020 that there’d be a device that can play Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo, and PC games all in the palm of your hand wherever you go, I’d have thought you were crazy.

Did buy a Steam Deck on May 27th. Parent had an old inactive account from ~2012-13 with nothing on it that he wanted to use for parental controls. Steam said he had to spend at least some amount of money to make a family account, parent was like “okay”. Tries to buy something random, Steam says “Your account has been permanently banned for suspection over beng an account that was bought which violates our guidelines.” Keep mind this account had NOTHING on it so why would it even be bought? When he tries to appeal to Steam support they completely ignore what he say and then begin to automatically close his tickets. Infuriated he then quickly realizes he cannot properly establish parental controls for me and therefore the Deck is useless. He then manages to get on the phone with a Steam agent, and even said agent agrees that the permaban was absolutely unwarranted, but states that he cannot do anything about it. So on June 5th or 6th we reluctantly return the Deck seeing as my parent is so frustrated with Steam that he doesn’t want to deal with them.

Many people claim that Steam customer support is good. Maybe in some aspects sure. But the support we got was terrible. And as someone who was absolutely eager to get into what Steam had to offer it crushed me.

But making a new account is free and you can just use parental controls for that new one. I don’t get it.

He said if Steam support was that bad, he didn’t want to spend a lot of money and potentially have to deal with them in the future

Money for steam comes out of his pocket
So perhaps that’s more of a me problem and the fact that I don’t have a job
