Bottom Line: The hours-long deification of Kirk was NOT about Kirk. It's a (doubtless successful) attempt to establish in the minds of the gullible the idea that religious fealty is tied to their *movement*. In plain words, it's the declaration that "God Is On Our Side"--a callback to the barbaric Medieval Crusades--one psychological step short of declaring a "Holy War." It was less a memorial and more a rally.
