Much of the Library was burned during Julius Caesar during the siege of Alexandria and the rest was probably destroyed during Aurelian's campaign against Zenobia's newly declared Palmyrene Empire.
Neither were Christians and Christianity was not an official religion in Rome at the time.
Any remains of the library are said to have been destroyed by Muslim caliph Umar after he conquered Egypt from the Christian Byzantines.
