I call one of my hometown friends often, and there’s a lot of dead silence in between exchanges.
He’s undiagnosed but I’m pretty sure he has legitimate social anxiety. He’s not faking it, he just refuses to look people in the eye or talk to anyone he doesn’t know. When we meet at McDonald’s, he gives me money to order for him at the counter because he can’t talk to them.
