Eh, you sure do behave like the average Dem to me. But the punishment is NOT cruel and unusual. Unlike the few illegals rounded up during Democrat rule that were left to bake in the hot sun (with the kids in cages thing being during Obama's time btw), they are now detained in a fully airconditioned place with plenty of amenities such as books and video games until they're deported back to their home countries. And while I do agree not every illegal is a hardened criminal, you have to admit that every hardened criminal that entered the country is much more likely to be an illegal than not, and those are the ones that are getting prioritized. Killmar for example was a human trafficker with ties to MS13, and there are records of his ex filing a restraining order prior to his face getting all over the news.
But I do guess my POV is a bit different from yours, as I live in another country facing an illegal immigrant crisis. And believe me, there's quite a lot of illegals/asylum seekers that do nothing but collect paychecks from the taxes of the locals while causing us nothing but trouble and refusing to integrate into our society. Not saying they're all like that, but a lot of them are. Not the Ukrainian asylum seekers though, they usually integrate well into our cultural melting pot.
As for that friend of yours, while he did stay a bit longer than was legally allowed, he did eventually try and do things the right way, which is a lot more than most of the people getting arrested by ICE can say. Besides, from everything I've seen, ICE doesn't need a warrant to arrest someone. Also, most illegals don't seem to care about due process when they break in, so why should ICE care about pushing them back out? And I never said it's the equivalent of murder, I just think countries should just send people that went in illegally back to their home. Murderers deserve the death penalty if you ask me, so these guys are getting off too easily for me. Also, why should countries like the USA be responsible for the criminals of, say, El Salvador? I say just send them back and let their own countries deal with their own problems, and not let them pass the responsibility to others.
