It was ILLEGAL to be trans at that point. Trans people were arrested, queer establishments were raided all the time, it was illegal to be homosexual, crossdressing wasn’t all that legal, they weren’t protected under anti discrimination laws yet. Stuff like this is why the Stonewall riot existed. If you did, even the SLIGHTEST bit of research, you would know this.
