The Book Of Ezekiel is one of the “prophetic” books. Therefore, it is prophesy of the New Testament and Jesus. A pretty standard way of preaching is to use both Old and New Testaments, pairing prophesy with recount.

Therefore, Christians READ it as prophesy of the New Testament and Jesus. But they do that because they're starting with an assumption that, well, colors their thinking.
