The point is not that the shooter is not to blame for their actions: it's that stopping any one individual shooter does very little to stem the tide of American blood from gun violence.
The person who shot those children is dead, and no loss, really, but did that make any of us safer? Nope, because there are still hundreds of millions of poorly secured guns in this country.
