Back when Microsoft Rewards actually meant something, they used to put on little events where if you play a certain themed game, you’d get more rewards points. One time there was an indie promotion, and SpiderHeck was on there, so I downloaded it from Game Pass and gave it a try for no reason.
I was planning to just play for a few hours, get my points, and uninstall. But something about it kept coming back over the days, trying to one-up my highest round.
The more I learned how to play, and the better I got, the more fun I found myself having. Its physics and precision controls were excellent and allowed for insane stunts and crazy kills if you were good enough to pull them off. Not once did it feel like it was the game’s fault that you died. It was always something you missed.
I play SpiderHeck to this day and I still get surprised by some of the kills I can pull of. It is some of the most satisfying and fluid combat I’ve ever felt.
