They dont, but they can squeeze more power out of the states they control to match the blue states who have already done this.

Oh, you see what you said there? Squeeze more power.

It's not about democracy at all. It's about circumventing the voters in red states. They're making sure only Republicans get elected in "red" states.

Yep. Same as every blue state has been doing for forever. Fair is fair.

So, what's your opinion about a federal judge (or judges) who uphold a gerrymandered map? Or even rule in a court case saying that gerrymandering is perfectly fine?

If everyone can do it its fair. If only one party can then it isnt.

What's fair is a voter approval process like in Utah and California. Well, what's being forced in Utah because Utah GOP-lead House & Senate threw out the voter approved map and went with their own gerrymandered map.

And now they have to go back to the voter one.

Republicans get 35-40% of the vote in Massachusetts and how much representation do they have in Congress? 0. 0 senators, 0 representatives. The dems are the masters of the gerrymander. Texas is just evening things out. There is WAY more that can be gerrymandered in red states, like Florida, Indiana, Ohio, and Missouri, so the dems better be careful if they want to start a gerrymander war.

Lemme repeat it: if he won in a landslide, why do they have to gerrymander red states right before the midterm?

just evening the playing field

Gerrymandering is bad no matter who does it, but the dems have a FAR worse record for keeping republicans from being represented... just look at AmericanViking's comment below. I think you will be hard pressed to find a red state where the dems don't have ANY representation. I mean republicans in New Hampshire get almost 50% of the vote and ZERO representation... that's horrific.

The first thing to remember is AV is a liar. He is willfully ignorant and deliberately posts misinformation and lies.

Let's take his graphic. It says Massachusetts has a voter population of 34% Republicans.

What does Massachusetts say? The Secretary of the Commonwealth says as of February 2025 there are 5 million registered voters. 425,000ish are Republicans.

Does that sound like 30%? That's not even 10%.

You can verify that here: Massachusetts Registered Voter Enrollment: 1948–2024 https://share.google/OtQ8AXSxJxpAFMmed

But let pretend that it's 100% accurate. It's presented as a homogeneous population - any where you go any voting district will be 30% Republican. If that's the case, having 0 representatives and senators makes sense. There is no where they could win an election. The remaining 50%+ Democrats would always vote them down.

I don't care about voter rolls. In Massachusetts the fact is in the last presidential election republicans got 35% of the vote. And, even if we apply your logic, there are 2 Senators and 9 representatives in Massachusetts. 10% would mean at least 1 republican...NOT ZERO as there currently are...ZERO representation of republicans from Mass.

Republicans? 3 of the districts the Democrat ran unopposed. There were only 5 open seats. Now you're down to 2 elections.
And look at their results? Consistent with the 30% you're standing on.

So...no. Republicans shouldn't have at least 1 seat. They didn't run in all elections. And if they had, and remained consistent, they would have lost all of those elections too.

And with our system being tied to voting precincts by geographical location, for the Republicans to have 1 seat would mean they'd all have to move into 1 district to get enough votes.

Texas just ended the dems gerrymandering... LOL

LOL, sure, okay. Because the Dems gerrymandered the 2021 Texas map?
