Since the cops rarely actually help when needed and cause more harm than help, f**k the police. I wish they actually hired good people more often.

I know some very good police in my area (NOT the USA if you’re thinking that).
Tyre is a compulsory tertiary education in their training. They graduate with a degree in justice.
I also know retired police who have worked as: a Superintendent in major crimes, a prosecutor and covert operations, and another detective Sargent in major crimes. We also have police youth liaison officers and domestic and family violence officers here. I call those things good causes.

I’ve met a few wholesome officers but most cops here in the US are just arrogant pricks who only took the job for the power trip. I wish all cops were like the few wholesome ones. Also, I get a sense that a lot of cops here in the US are bought or answer to bought off superiors.

Probably more of an urban thing, but I’ve seen some seriously shady shit from cops before. I’m pretty sure a lot of US police, especially in urban areas, are on the payrolls of various crime rings, mafia families, and drug cartels. Plus their hands are legally tied so they can’t even investigate some shit even though they might want to. Hopefully the cops in your area are actually worth your taxpayer money.

Ours are generally decent. If you accept that the purpose of Hwy Patrol is to raise revenue, the general duties are mostly fine. It’s helps if you know a few through community though, get to see the people behind the badge.

Honestly, here they try to de-escalate. They learn stuff like non-violent crisis intervention techniques. It’s seen as a profession.
But we did have a case recently where a 90+ year old woman was tazed in a nursing home. She died. She had a knife and the police wee called. But really, the nursing home or police staff should have known to simply distract her with something else (she had advanced dementia so it’d be easy) or just throw a towel over the arm holding the knife of her whole self. Almost 100% she’d refocus on grabbing the sheet or getting away and drop the knife. Just dumb stuff.

Tasers are so dumb, they’re not so ‘non-lethal’ they literally f**king electrocute you. It’s basically a recipe for cardiac arrest. I thought cops carry pepper spray/mace? Also, she’s 90+, she’s not exactly dangerous, even when armed. All it takes is a cop in body armor to take the knife away and administer whatever meds are used for people in that state.

Otherwise though, don’t cops get belligerent dealing with civilians? They don’t harass you ever? That’s actually impressive ngl

She did have a heart attack. Cop is awaiting sentencing or already sentenced I think.

I wouldn’t say no harassment ever. For a while the cops in another state had a bad Rep for shooting Aborigines.
