“Very true.” He says getting comfortable in his seat and grabbing a clip board. “But enough about her, let's talk about you… why are you here?” Why am I here…? I didn’t really think about that. I sort of just went with the flow and came here because I wanted to see, but I don’t want to look like an asshole. I decided to tell him about my dream, cause there’s no harm in that… but then I trail on, continuing to speak. About Ares, about the street crashers, about Mania, about Mars, about my kids, everything up to this point… This place just seemed comfortable enough to say everything… I felt a huge weight off my chest as Marcus listened to me. His eyes lack judgement, but they’re filled with understanding. He writes down everything I’ve just said onto his clipboard and nods. “Your answer to living?” He repeats after me. “Well… it’s only natural you would think about that due to what's been going on with you on the news lately…” I sigh as I hear about that as he quickly apologizes for bringing it up. He stands up and puts his clipboard down. “It’s so sad, you know? I get so many people coming in and wondering if they’re going the right path. There’s never a sign of happiness and when I ask for a moment where they felt joy, they will go on and on, happily recalling that memory until… they realize that's all it was. A memory.” He says taking off his glasses and wiping it. “I want to help them more. Just patting them on the back and saying everything is going to be okay isn’t enough. Do you understand?” I nod, listening to his story. He seemed so passionate about what he said… a kind man who wants to change the world…
“Is there anything I can do to help?” I ask, wanting to see if I can help his goal. He looked surprised I was willing to do this, but he shook his head.
“There’s one thing… You can come back here, tell me the stories you’ve been through. I want to see how the people around you grow and change from the things they've been through… Please allow me to be an audience for you.” He says holding his hand out to shake. I smile and take his hand, shaking it. “I hope you’ll find your answer… and I’ll be happy to hear your journey to find it.” He says with a warm smile. I stand up and take my leave, about to hand him some money but- “Oh no, please. Your stories will be enough payment.” He says smiling. I waved him goodbye and walked out with a smile. I should come back here whenever I finish a part of my investigation…
