Before the Civil War, slavery may have been a Southern thing, but racism was nationwide, making the idea that the war was fought over slavery ridiculous. Northern politicians threw slaves under the bus every chance they got, the Missouri Compromise, the Kansas-Nebraska Act, the Corwin Amendment, etc. Revisionist histroy is a lie. Lincoln told you what the war was about. Why don't you believe him?
