As everyone knows, in Undertale, monsterkind has been trying to gather seven human souls, heart shaped objects of great power that can be used to break the barrier. There are seven different colors and natures of these souls, as well.
In Milkyway Wishes, Kirby is sent off to gather star power from seven major planets around Popstar. These "star powers" are star shaped objects of great power that can be used to summon Nova. They each have different colors and natures.
At the beginning of both, you meet a seemingly friendly character, but by the end, both end up stealing the power for themselves, Flowey stealing the souls and Marx stealing the wish. Both characters have three similarly traited main forms; one with no arms and a seemingly friendly face, one with rainbow-colored wings and a god complex, and the last an eldritch horror whose form is involved with mechanics in some way and has a very iconic sound. There's also their actually friendly versions who appear after the main journey(Asriel and Star Allies Marx) who are very, very silly.
During both journeys, you explore many differently natured locales; at the beginning, you will find flowers(landing point/Floria). The enemies here are very basic. As you progress, you'll find yourself in cold areas(Snowdin exists, Skyhigh has a lot of Chillys), technology-based areas(True Lab/Mekkai), very hot areas(Hotland/Hotbeat), water-based areas(Waterfall/Aquarius), and may even find yourself in a mysterious place unlike the others(Mysterious Door/the planet with the COPY essence deluxe.) as you travel through the underground(or Cavius). Near/at the end, you will find yourself beneath a sky beginning to darken as stars appear(Surface/Halfmoon).
Through the journey, you can kill everything if so desired or make plenty of new friends(In Kirby's case, he can do both).

Oh, also, a big thing in UT is that the monsters want to see the sky again, and in KSS the goal is to stop the sun and moon from fighting and fix the sky. And also flow of time on Popstar ig but who cares
