Give a man regime change, and he'll be free for a day. Allow a man to become sufficiently sick of his regime that he's willing to put everything on the line to change it, and he'll be free for a lifetime.
To the people of Iran:
When you've finally has enough of your theocratic dictators and are willing to risk YOUR lives and spend YOUR blood to remove them from power, when you prove to us that you're in it to WIN it, and that you intend to do ALL the "heavy-lifting", ONLY then we will assist you.
This is basically the same thing France said to us in 1775. In the end, all they did was send us financial support, and used their navy to blockade British supply lines. And that was all we needed them to do.
