Sort of. A tourist was denied entry because they found a photo of a wooden pipe on his phone, which they said was possibly being used to smuggle the drugs and linked it to terrorism and drug smuggling. The first thing they saw though was the bald JD Vance photo. He just happened to have the JD Vance photo on there so he used it to get attention from news outlets and the internet, otherwise I doubt this would even have been covered. Its also the reason for the sudden uptick in ‘rare JD Vance’ memes.
Here’s the problem: they acquired that phone because they threatened him with a $5,000 fine and jail time if he refused to not only give up his phone but also his passwords. He also got forced to give a blood sample before being sent back to Norway.
