“A day in the life”…

I saw your comments and memes about that. I was shocked when I saw that. After that I read a couple different articles about it online. I think that some books should be banned in schools. I think that pornographic material and other age-inappropriate material shouldn’t be available for kids to see in schools. But NOT something like C & H, a reference book about cats and most of the other ones that were mentioned. The articles said that it was several counties in Tennessee that were instituting the bans. That’s still pretty harsh even if it’s not the whole state.

Did they explain why Calvin and Hobbes was banned? Or why the complete books on dog and cats were banned?

The two that I read didn’t explain why. I’ll try to find more articles and see if any of those explain why they’re doing it.

Thanks! I commented on another meme about this...to someone upset about it, too...that you were looking into it. I wonder if there could be a petition to get it unbanned. I'll check out some Calvin and Hobbes Fan groups to see if they've posted anything. My bet is they have no idea about this.

I read another article… it seems that they’re banning books before they even find out if they’re truly offensive or not. School district leaders mainly. They’re mixing together books that really do have questionable content with books that have been available for decades. It seems to be a major case of overkill. Instead of getting rid of the real offenders they’re lumping everything in together. Without looking to see if it’s actually worthy of getting rid of.

They're always sneaking stuff in because no one reads the whole thing. BUT...why would someone put those books in the mix to begin with?!

I don’t know why they would do that. They should’ve at least looked at the entire book before they made a decision about anything. They weren’t even doing that. (Maybe it was because of those C & H comics that showed Calvin’s nude butt during bath time (just kidding!).)

That happens with both sides. They’re always sneaking things into budget and spending bills that they don’t want anyone to know about. Nancy Pelosi famously said “we need to pass this bill so people can find out what’s in it”. Instead of finding out what’s in it before it gets passed.
