Some people have expressed that because their people have been present for thousands of years,it is still theirs to do with as they please.... yet,
...they having lost the Mexican/American War, and their leaders signed the Treaty of Guadalupe, which gave them 1/2 of what was conquered known today as modern day Mexico & paid them for the other half annexed into the SW USA.

USA Paid the conquered Nation, an amount more money than the Louisiana Purchase price of Land from France a few decades earlier for much less land already conquered and surrendered in War.
