THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA IS COMMITTED TO ENDING
THE EPIDEMIC OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN ALL ITS FORMS. In the fall of 2023, the Minister of Justice expressed an openness
to criminalize coercive control in a letter to Ontario’s chief coroner

the federal government to work to find alternative ways
for domestic violence complainants to testify in court.
