Antidepressants in general carry a risk of suicide. The first effect of antidepressants is usually to give a sense of motivation. Some people are so depressed that they have suicidal ideation (thoughts) but don’t have the motivation to attempt. The antidepressants then give them the motivation to act. It does happen.
