I know that you do not know me, chill_guy, but I am an older person, & a mother/grandmother. I have seen the world through a black and white TV and now in full-blown color as well as phenomenal internet and AI; I have been very blessed.
I posted the meme because today I have seen so many young people who do not do what I did as a child. I used to run and play down the street w/friends, no doors locked, and was due home before dark. No worries!
Today, life is very much different for kids and adults alike. My world consisted of a mother who stayed at home with us and a father who worked. They were married for over 60 years and that loving union only ended when they died.
That is no longer 'the norm'. Many people don't marry at all and if they do, it often ends in divorce. This has been very challenging on children as well as difficult on their parents.
The internet has taken over and for me, it is an absolute miracle which I enjoy every day at my age. I got online for the first time at fifty and stayed up all night, so fascinated by this new experience. I enjoy it with my husband (who does not meme) but he always keeps me up on the news & shares articles with me daily.
So, "it was never about me"...I would be the first to say how much I love the internet. I am coming from a very different perspective than young people today as I truly am grateful to have grown up in the best of times; we didn't have all the 'things' that kids have today, but we had SO MUCH and a lot fewer worries!
Society is in decline and the amazing thing is that the young people seem to have understood and shared the gif. It has only been up under two days as I had generated it and held it for a couple of days before submission. It seems to have hit a nerve with the young (and probably a lot more nerves with the adults). :)
