They were punishing Germany so badly that most Germans couldn't even afford bread and would have to line up and try to get it as fast as possible bc there was a massive food shortage
When Hitler came and promised to make Germany a force to be reckoned with again, many Germans were so desperate to get out of that situation that they overlooked his evil. Jews noticed ofc, which is why many had to escape before he took power.

but japan was already interested in expanding its domain and didn't have much to pay in ww1 since it didn't play a major role. ww2 in asia would still have happened even if that guy was taken out or he got accepted into art school

Japan was a totally different story. First off, they were with the allies in WW1. Second, they had a dictator that had different opinions on things than the leader in WW1. He looked at Hitler as a role model almost. The Japanese obeyed him either out of loyalty to leadership, or fear.
But I feel the worst for the Chinese, who were treated terribly by Japan until 1945, and then only had 4 years of freedom until Mao Zedong came into power in 1949, the same way Hitler took over Germany. He persecuted his own people, probably worse than Japan did. I actually joke that if China should get reparations from Japan, they show also get reparations from China.

I can get your point. I feel like modern Japan has realized that the things it did were wrong and would be willing to reconciliate with China and Korea, if not given the current geopolitical tensions in east Asia and between the US, especially since Japan co-operates with South Korea and China significantly through trade and business.
