The vast majority of people who disable comments for no reason are children under 13 years old.

I didn't even know you could do that until now

There wasn't an option to disable comments until September of 2020 (I joined in March 2020 but I created this account on December 2023)

That's called a "locked" post.

Archived posts are when you can't interact with it -almost as if it's deleted- but you can still view it.
Locked posts are when you can interact with the post just fine (ex, upvoting comments and post), it's just that you can't comment or reply anymore.
