I think that a LONG time ago (when the bible was getting translated in other languages), there may have been a few mistranslations throughout the centuries (a poorly constructed example: "No older man should sleep with a boy {basically they're saying "no" to paedophilia, which is good}.)" turned into "No man should sleep with a man (basically they're saying "no" to homosexuality, which is worse}.)" or smth like that...), but the people that believed in the bible didn't question and took the book's word I guess. Then the beliefs solidified and were reinforced and *poof* homophobia. :(
