I would reccommend first wrapping said apple seed in a wet paper towel then placing it in a plastic baggie by the windowsill for germination. Then once it germinates, dig up a bit of soil and put it in a plastic cup for the plant to develop. Once the plant has produced it's first few leaves, start hardening it off outside to get it used to the sun. THEN carefully transplant it fully outside
